On Strange Soil
Weekly Film Production Updates - 04/11/2022
The edit moves forward. The footage from Utah 13 is about to be complete in the pre-edit phase. The next step is going to bring the footage into the rough cut phase, to edit the visual storyline together, that brings the character of this remote and sacred land to life.
OSS Utah 14 has been delayed though, by at least a week. Between vehicle issues, and a busy 4 weeks of client + film shoots, pushing to try to leave for Utah last week was a stretch. One that didn’t happen. The next full moon does begin this Friday and goes throughout the weekend, so the ability to shoot the “midnight monument” time-lapse sequence still could happen this month. Ideally, this scene needs to be shot this month to keep the film on track for an August delivery. Because the director, is getting married in early June, that removes May and June from the production schedule. And then July is just too hot to go down to GSENM. We’ve made that mistake before shooting in the middle of July.
The story for OSS finds itself inside of what it means to heal told through the voices of humans who have generations of deep connections to this landscape. Frame by frame, day by day, this film begins to come together.
